The Barra GPS is the compact battery-powered tracker in Digital Matter's range — designed and engineered in Australia, IP68, slim (149 x 51 x 21 mm at 107g), and powered by 2 x AA user-replaceable lithium cells for 8+ years of battery life on once-daily updates. Magnetic activation, tamper detection, multi-constellation GNSS, and cell-tower fallback when GNSS is blocked. Built for the assets that don't have their own power — trailers, bins, tools, containers, secondary plant.

Trailers and non-powered transport

Box trailers, plant trailers, drop-decks, dollies, containers. No power source, no wires, no install schedule. Magnet pulled means live; magnet re-applied fires a tamper alert.

Bins, tools, high-value site equipment

Skip bins, plant attachments, generators (location only), site sheds, tool cases. IP68 for outdoor exposure. Fit-and-forget for an entire asset-replacement cycle.

Secondary plant without onboard power

Towed compressors, light towers without a 24/7 battery, attachments. Location, geofencing, theft recovery on assets where a hardwired install isn't possible or economic.

PROSTART®

Immobilisation — not supported on Barra GPS

PROSTART® immobilisation requires a hardwired device with a digital output rated to drive a relay. The Barra GPS is battery-powered with no digital outputs — it reports location, movement, impact, and geofence events, but it cannot physically prevent an asset from starting.

For PROSTART® immobilisation, pick a hardwired device:

Most Barra GPS use cases — trailers, bins, secondary plant — don't have an ignition circuit to immobilise in the first place. Location and pre-start records are typically what compliance wants on those assets.

Install

DIY by default — minutes per asset

DIY install (the default)

Ships pre-configured with batteries fitted. Pull the magnet to activate; fix with the supplied stainless steel screws, bolts, rivets, or cable ties. No wiring, no auto-electrician.

Bulk rollouts

For large rollouts we pre-stage and label each device against a specific asset ID before shipping. Partner network can fit and serial-record at scale.
