Hardware vendor

Teltonika — European-engineered telematics on the Teletrack platform.

Four Teltonika models on Teletrack: FMM003 OBD plug-in for light commercial, FMM250 hardwired for fleet vehicles, FMM650 heavy-duty CAN/FMS for trucks and mining vehicles, and FMC650 — the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 variant required for Teletrack's Teltonika dashcam offering.

Teltonika is a Lithuania-headquartered telematics hardware company and one of the largest tracker manufacturers globally. Its FM-series devices are widely deployed across European fleet markets and increasingly across Australia — a deep range covering OBD plug-in, hardwired fleet, heavy-duty CAN / FMS, and dashcam-capable telematics devices.

Teletrack stocks four Teltonika models and runs them on the same platform as TrakaX®, Digital Matter, and Ruptela — one dashboard, one operator app, one set of PROSTART® workflows. Teltonika builds the hardware in Europe; Teletrack adds the platform integration and AU support.

About the vendor

Why Teltonika sits in the Teletrack range

Deep technical range

OBD plug-in through to heavy-duty CAN / FMS in one product family — dual SIM, plus RS232, RS485, K-Line, and CAN interfaces on the heavy-duty models.

Tier-1 manufacturer

One of the largest tracker manufacturers globally with widespread deployment across European fleet markets and a growing AU base.

CAN / FMS integration

Deep CAN bus integration on the heavy-duty FMM650 / FMC650 models.

Dashcam-capable head-unit

FMC650 is the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 variant that pairs with the Teltonika Dashcam and DualCam — the head-unit Teletrack uses for its Teltonika dashcam offering.

Connectivity

What you can wire into a Teltonika

CAN bus + FMS

Native CAN on FMM650 / FMC650 for deep vehicle-data integration.

RS232 / RS485 / K-Line

Three serial protocols on the heavy-duty models for connecting third-party peripherals.

BLE for nearby sensors

Bluetooth Low Energy across the FMM range for paired sensors and operator ID tags.

Digital I/O for PROSTART®

Three+ digital inputs on FMM650 / FMC650, including the immobilisation output that drives PROSTART® pre-start gating.

Dashcam pairing

FMC650 + Teltonika dashcams

For dashcam-equipped fleets, the FMC650 is the head-unit. Same capability as the FMM650 plus the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 modem required to move video. Two Teltonika dashcam SKUs pair with it:

  • Teltonika Dashcam — single forward-facing camera.
  • Teltonika DualCam — forward + driver-facing in one unit.

Both are built for AU mining-site spec compliance (BMA, Rio Tinto, FMG), Tier 1 construction sites, and insurance-led fleet safety programmes. See dashcam options for the full pairing detail and current pricing.

Why buy through Teletrack

Three reasons Teltonika sits well on Teletrack

One platform, mixed hardware

Teltonika devices run on the Teletrack platform alongside TrakaX®, Digital Matter, and Ruptela — same dashboard, same operator app, same PROSTART® workflows. You can mix vendors in a single fleet without splitting your team across tools.

Cross-vendor PROSTART®

Pre-start safety on hardwired Teltonika devices (FMM250, FMM650, FMC650) works the same way it does on TrakaX® — gate the machine until the pre-start passes. Cross-vendor immobilisation is built in, not bolted on.

AU support + AWS Sydney

Teltonika devices come through Teletrack with Australian customer support and AU-resident data on AWS Sydney. The hardware is European; the platform and the help line are local.

If Teltonika isn't the right fit

Teltonika sits alongside three other vendors in the Teletrack hardware range:

  • Digital Matter — Australian-designed alternative for plant.
  • TrakaX® — Teletrack's own Australian-designed tracker, PROSTART-native.
  • Ruptela — Asset5 for long-battery non-powered tracking, Plug5 for OBD, Smart5 for hardwired.

Teltonika on Teletrack FAQs

Does Teltonika hardware support PROSTART® pre-starts and immobilisation?

Yes on the hardwired models — FMM250, FMM650, and FMC650 all support PROSTART® cross-vendor pre-start with immobilisation. The FMM003 (OBD plug-in) supports the pre-start workflow but not physical immobilisation, because it's a plug-in device on the OBD port rather than a hardwired install.

Which Teltonika model is right for my fleet?

Light commercial utes and vans where you don't need immobilisation: FMM003. Hardwired fleet vehicles with operator ID and BLE: FMM250. Trucks, heavy haulage, and mining vehicles needing CAN / FMS, dual SIM, and immobilisation: FMM650. Dashcam-equipped vehicles: FMC650 head-unit paired with the Teltonika Dashcam or DualCam.

How does CAN bus integration work on the heavy-duty Teltonika devices?

FMM650 and FMC650 have a native CAN interface. For vehicles with an FMS port the wiring is direct; for vehicles without one, your install partner adds a CAN adapter to translate the relevant CAN IDs. CAN data flows into the Teletrack platform alongside the GPS feed.

What's the difference between the FMM650 and the FMC650?

Same form factor, same I/O, same immobilisation and operator ID support. The FMC650 is the Cat 1 (higher-bandwidth) variant — it has the modem bandwidth needed to move video from the paired Teltonika dashcam. If you don't need dashcam, the FMM650 is the right choice and saves nothing on subscription but saves on the camera hardware.

Can I run a Teltonika dashcam without the FMC650?

No. The Teltonika dashcam SKUs (Dashcam and DualCam) pair specifically with the FMC650 telematics device. That's the combination Teletrack supports. If you want a non-Teltonika dashcam option, talk to us about the alternatives in the dashcam range.

Does Teltonika hardware run on the same Teletrack platform as TrakaX® and Digital Matter?

Yes. One dashboard, one operator app, one set of PROSTART® workflows. You can mix vendors in a single fleet — Teltonika on the light commercial side, TrakaX® on the heavy plant, Digital Matter on something else — without splitting your team across multiple platforms.

Is Teltonika hardware supported in Australia?

Teltonika builds the hardware in Lithuania; Teletrack provides AU customer support, AU-resident data on AWS Sydney, and the platform integration. If you have a device issue, you contact Teletrack — not Teltonika directly.

What about operator ID on Teltonika devices?

FMM250, FMM650, and FMC650 all support driver / operator ID via RFID or iButton. The operator scans on, the device knows who's driving, and the platform attributes the trip, the pre-start, and any events to that operator. FMM003 (OBD plug-in) doesn't have the I/O for an external reader.
