Trades and services

For plumbers, electricians, HVAC, refrigeration, telecoms. Real-time GPS, proof-of-arrival, active anti-theft recovery. DIY install. Month-to-month.

The pain

The problems we solve for trades

'Where's my tech?'

The dispatcher rings the tech. The tech rings back ten minutes later. The customer rings while you're chasing the tech. Everyone wastes time you can't bill. You need a live map of every vehicle and a way to share an ETA with the customer without picking up the phone.

Proof of arrival on site

Customer says you didn't show up. Or that you only spent ten minutes when the invoice says two hours. You believe your tech, but you can't prove it. GPS-stamped arrival, departure, and on-site duration ends the argument.

Tradie utes get stolen

Tradie utes are theft targets — tools, vehicle, fitout. Insurance pays out, but you lose the week, the customer relationships, and the no-claims bonus. Active GPS tracking with a real recovery process matters more than a passive subscription.

Simple maintenance, not a 200-row spreadsheet

You don't need a maintenance module that runs an engineering shop. You need a reminder when the ute is due for service or rego — and an audit trail you can hand to a buyer when you sell the vehicle.

How Teletrack fixes it

Six capabilities tuned for trades fleets.

Real-time GPS tracking

Live map of every vehicle, updated every few seconds. Dispatcher sees who's closest to the next job. Customer service can answer the 'where's my tech?' call without ringing the tech. Trip history, route playback, and idle time per stop.

Geofencing + arrival alerts

Set a geofence around the customer's site. Entry and exit trigger automatic alerts and timestamps. Proof-of-arrival becomes a data point, not a phone call. Useful for SLA-bound trades (HVAC, refrigeration, after-hours plumbing).

Anti-theft tracking + active recovery

If a ute or trailer goes missing outside hours, you call us. We work with police on active recovery — not just a tracking dashboard. Many recoveries we've assisted on happened within hours of the theft being reported. (Recovery isn't a guarantee; it's a process and a service.)

Driver scorecard for fuel + insurance

Harsh braking, acceleration, idling, and speed scored per driver. Ranked weekly report. Used by trades businesses to negotiate insurance discounts (pair with a Teletrack dashcam where the insurer requires video evidence).

Simple maintenance reminders

Service intervals, rego renewals, CTP, and tyre rotations set per vehicle, reminders straight to the operations email. No engineer-grade work orders unless you want them. Full maintenance module available if you grow into it.

Dockets workflow for jobs

Per-user dockets module for techs to capture job notes, photos, signatures, and parts used on site. Sync to your accounting / job management system. Replaces the paper docket book in the glove box.

Fit

Built for trades — not Tier 1 procurement panels.

Trades businesses don't need the tender-response audit trail Tier 1 head contractors ask for. You need fewer customer disputes, less unbillable admin, lower fuel burn, and a recovery process if your ute walks.

Teletrack fits trades when you're

  • A trade business running 5 to 100 light commercial vehicles — utes, vans, light trucks.
  • Looking for a system you can self-install on most of the fleet (OBD plug-in devices).
  • Wanting AU-based phone support when something doesn't work — not an offshore ticket queue.
  • Done with 36-month lock-in contracts from your current provider.

Recommended hardware

Install path matters as much as the device.

Why trades businesses pick Teletrack

Month-to-month, no lock-in, 30 days notice — no 36-month contracts in the fine print. AU-based phone support — real humans on the line. DIY install on plug-in devices. AWS Sydney hosted — your fleet data stays in Australia. Pair driver scorecard data and dashcam evidence with insurance renewal negotiation.

Common questions

Can I install the trackers myself?

Yes — for plug-in devices. The Teltonika FMM003 and Ruptela Plug5 slot into the vehicle's OBD port (under the dash, driver's side on most utes). You connect, we activate the device on your account, you're live in a few minutes per vehicle. Hardwired installs (FMM250, Smart5) need an auto-electrician — we organise that through our partner network if you want.

Is Teletrack month-to-month? No 36-month minimum?

Yes, month-to-month, no lock-in, 30 days notice. No cancellation fees. Most competitors won't show you their contract until you've signed up — we publish ours. The hardware is sold upfront and you own it.

What happens if my ute is stolen?

Call us. We work with police on active recovery — providing live location, recent trip history, and supporting the investigation. Many recoveries happen within hours when the theft is reported promptly. (Recovery isn't guaranteed — it depends on response time, jurisdiction, and the thief's choices. But the process is a real service, not just a tracker icon on a map.)

Can I get insurance discounts?

Many insurers offer discounts for fleets with telematics — particularly when the data feeds driver behaviour scoring or pairs with dashcam evidence. We don't have an insurer partnership we'll claim publicly, but we'll provide the data export your insurer asks for. Some customers see meaningful renewal discounts; others see modest. Worth raising with your broker.

Do I need PROSTART® for a tradie fleet?

Usually no. PROSTART® is built for plant pre-starts and heavy machinery — the operator-ID + immobilisation workflow doesn't typically suit a residential plumber's ute. Where it does apply: civil sub-contracting crews using their utes on Tier 1 sites, where the head contractor mandates pre-start evidence. In that case, jump to Track + PROSTART®.

How long to set up a 10-vehicle fleet?

DIY plug-in fleet of 10 vehicles is operational within a few days — most of that is waiting for hardware to arrive and the operators to fit the device. A managed onboarding for a hardwired fleet runs through our Implementation Consultant and 1 to 2 weeks.

What about a dashcam?

We support two Teltonika dashcam SKUs — the Teltonika Dashcam (single forward-facing) and the Teltonika DualCam (forward + driver-facing) — paired with the FMC650 telematics device. Most trades businesses don't need a dashcam for compliance — but some insurers offer materially better terms when video is in the vehicle, and some councils / large facility customers require it for site access. Talk to your broker first; we'll fit it if it makes sense.
