Why we built our own tracker
Most telematics platforms run on third-party hardware they don't control. That's fine for most use cases — and it's why Teletrack also carries Digital Matter, Teltonika, and Ruptela. But there's a specific class of customer where deeper hardware-platform integration matters: PROSTART-heavy fleets running CANBUS-capable plant where fault code reading, immobilisation, and operator workflows all need to work as one.
TrakaX® was designed for that class of customer. It's the device we recommend when the integration tightness with the Teletrack platform is the deciding factor.

TrakaX® Series 2
Hardwired. CANBUS / J1939 / custom OEM library support. PROSTART-native. Australian-designed.
Series 2 is the current TrakaX® — built to order for fleets where PROSTART® integration depth and custom OEM CANBUS coverage are the deciding factors. Compatible with every Teletrack solution; suitable for heavy plant and fleet vehicles.
Ordering — special order only, 500+ MOQ. Series 2 isn't held in general stock today. It's a built-to-order device for PROSTART-heavy, CANBUS-led deployments at scale. Sub-500-unit fleets — talk to us about the Digital Matter G70-BLE, Teltonika FMC650, or Ruptela Smart5; all three run cross-vendor PROSTART® on the same Teletrack platform.

9–100V wide-range hardwired
Same SKU fits 12V light commercial, 24V heavy plant, and 48V / 80V electric and industrial equipment. Permanent power, no plug-in compromises.
Full CANBUS and J1939

Decision guide
Pick a third-party device when…
TrakaX® isn't the right answer for every fleet. We sell Digital Matter, Teltonika, and Ruptela alongside it for good reasons.
- Existing fleet on different hardware — you want to integrate, not replace. Cross-vendor PROSTART® works on every hardwired device in the range.
- Simple light vehicle — OBD plug-in (Teltonika FMM003 or Ruptela Plug5) is sufficient and cheaper to deploy.
- Non-powered asset — long-battery is the requirement; Ruptela Asset5 is the go-to.
- Dashcam required — Teltonika FMC650 is the dashcam-pairing telematics device today.
- Cost-optimising on simple installs — Digital Matter Barra GPS is the budget pick.

TrakaX® + PROSTART®
TrakaX® was designed for PROSTART® — the immobilisation, operator ID, and pre-start workflows were architected together. Other teletrack-supported hardware also supports PROSTART® (cross-vendor immobilisation works on all hardwired devices in our portfolio) but TrakaX® is where the deepest integration sits.

Is TrakaX® manufactured in Australia?
TrakaX® is Australian-designed — engineered locally, with the roadmap and platform integration owned by Teletrack. We don't overclaim on manufacturing origin; the value sits in the design and the platform integration, not in where the PCB is assembled.
How is TrakaX® different from Digital Matter or Teltonika in practice?
The hardware specs overlap with the heavier third-party devices (G70-BLE, FMM250). The difference is integration depth — PROSTART® pre-starts, immobilisation, operator ID, and CANBUS fault code reading were all architected around the TrakaX® device. On third-party hardware those features work; on TrakaX® they're native. For PROSTART-heavy fleets that's the deciding factor. For simpler fleets it usually isn't.
Can TrakaX® run on the Track tier, or does it need Track + PROSTART®?
TrakaX® Series 2 runs on any tier — Track, Track + Safety, or Track + PROSTART®. You get the full benefit on Track + PROSTART® because that's where the pre-start, immobilisation, and operator ID workflows light up. On Track alone it's a very capable hardwired tracker with full CANBUS read.
When is Series 3 launching?
We're not committing to a public launch date. Series 3 is in active development and we're happy to walk you through what's coming under NDA if you're scoping a deployment 12+ months out. Get in touch to talk through it.
Is TrakaX® stock available now?
Series 2 is a special-order build today with a 500+ unit minimum order quantity — we're not holding general stock. For deployments at that scale, talk to sales and we'll quote against your actual plan. Sub-500-unit fleets are better served by the Digital Matter G70-BLE, Teltonika FMC650, or Ruptela Smart5 on the same Teletrack platform.
Does TrakaX® work with non-Teletrack platforms?
No. TrakaX® is Teletrack's proprietary device — it's designed for the Teletrack platform and isn't sold for use elsewhere. If you want a tracker that's portable across platforms, the third-party options in the range (Digital Matter, Teltonika, Ruptela) are the answer.
