Two rugged Android units the operator actually uses in the cab. The MDT865 8" tablet mounts to the windscreen or dash; the MDT665 5.7" handheld goes on the vehicle cradle. Both talk to the Teletrack platform through the Teltonika FMC650 telematics device over an RS232 harness — that's where PROSTART® pre-start immobilisation actually lives.
Why Topicon
The operator UI Teletrack has been missing.
The Teltonika trackers Teletrack already ships (FMM250, FMM650, FMC650) do the telematics + pre-start-immobilisation heavy lifting, but they don't have a screen — operators historically ran the pre-start on their own phone. That works for most fleets, but some deployments need a fixed, cab-mounted device: forklift cabins where phones aren't allowed, heavy plant where every operator uses the same machine, and any deployment where phone BYOD isn't acceptable.
Topicon fills that gap. The MDT865 tablet and MDT665 handheld are IP67-rated Android devices designed to sit in a vehicle cradle and drive the pre-start UI. Both dock over an RS232 harness to the FMC650 — the FMC650 is still where the PROSTART® cross-vendor immobilisation output lives, and the Topicon device is the touchscreen in front of the operator.

Topicon MDT865
8" IPS rugged Android tablet (1280×800, 1000-nit anti-glare). Cabin-mounted operator UI for trucks, heavy plant and depot vehicles. RS232 + CAN bus available via the docking cradle for the FMC650 harness. IP67, MIL-STD-810G drop rating, 4G dual-SIM, 12/24V vehicle power with ignition sensing. $800 + GST upfront, includes the mounting kit with the RS232 connection for the FMC650.

Topicon MDT665
5.7" rugged handheld Android device (720×1440). Optional cradle-mount for the vehicle; carry-in-hand form factor for forklift operators who move between machines. Integrated NFC + optional barcode scanner (1D/2D). IP67 (IP68 optional), 1.2 m drop rated, -20 to +60 °C. $600 + GST upfront, includes the mounting kit with the RS232 connection for the FMC650. No extra subscription; 1 GB Teletrack SIM available at $10 / month + GST if needed.

Topicon + FMC650 — the full PROSTART® cabin kit.
Both Topicon devices ship with the mounting kit that brings the RS232 harness across to the Teltonika FMC650. The FMC650 is the telematics device — it's the piece with the immobilisation output, the cellular link to the Teletrack platform, and the PROSTART® cross-vendor pre-start integration.
The Topicon device is the screen. Operator taps through the pre-start questionnaire on the Topicon; FMC650 enforces the immobilisation gate based on the answer. If the FMC650 isn't in the kit, the Topicon can still be used standalone as an Android device, but you don't get PROSTART® pre-start immobilisation.

MDT865 tablet — permanently mounted
Trucks, heavy plant, telehandlers, excavators, dispatch-managed light commercial vehicles. Where the same operator uses the same machine and the tablet stays with the vehicle. Bigger screen, better for dispatch messaging + digital dockets alongside PROSTART®.
MDT665 handheld — carry between machines
Forklift depots where one operator moves between multiple machines through a shift. Warehouse operators who need barcode scanning alongside pre-starts. The handheld goes with the operator; docks into any FMC650-equipped machine to run the pre-start.

Rugged by design
Both devices are IP67 rated with 1.2 m drop protection to MIL-STD-810G. Operating range -20 to +60 °C. Built for cabin, warehouse and outdoor deployments — not consumer tablets in cases.
RS232 harness = FMC650 pairing
Every Topicon device Teletrack ships includes the RS232 mounting kit that brings the harness across to the FMC650. That's what makes the PROSTART® workflow work — the operator's tap on the Topicon screen gates the FMC650's immobilisation output.
Android GMS / Non-GMS
Both units run Android 12 or Android 14, GMS-certified or Non-GMS depending on the deployment. Long-lifecycle OEM support — Topicon commits to platform continuity for fleet-scale rollouts.
Pricing summary
MDT865 tablet: $800 + GST per unit, includes mounting kit with RS232 for the FMC650. MDT665 handheld: $600 + GST per unit, includes the same mounting kit. Neither device carries an extra monthly subscription. An optional 1 GB Teletrack SIM is available for the MDT665 at $10 / month + GST if the device needs its own cellular data. The FMC650 telematics device is $280 + GST upfront and runs on the base Telematics tier at $21.90 / asset / month.
Topicon FAQs
Do I need the FMC650 to run PROSTART® pre-starts on a Topicon?
Yes. The Topicon device is the operator screen; the FMC650 is where the immobilisation output actually lives. Without an FMC650 in the kit, the Topicon can still run as a standalone Android device (dispatch messaging, dockets, timesheets) but the pre-start won't gate the machine from starting.
MDT865 or MDT665 — which one should I order?
MDT865 (8" tablet) if the device stays in the machine and the operator is at the same cab every shift — trucks, heavy plant, excavators, dispatched light commercial. MDT665 (5.7" handheld) if operators move between machines through a shift — forklift depots, warehouse yards, multi-asset service crews.
Do the Topicon devices come with a SIM card?
No. Both devices ship without a SIM. The MDT865 typically doesn't need one — it uses the FMC650's cellular connection for platform sync. The MDT665, when used away from an FMC650, can take an optional Teletrack 1 GB data SIM at $10 / month + GST.
Can I use my own barcode scanner with the MDT665?
The MDT665 has integrated NFC (RFID) and an optional built-in 1D/2D barcode scanner variant. External scanners over USB Type-C are also supported. Talk to us about the scanning workflow before ordering — the built-in option is usually cheaper end-to-end.
Are these devices Google-certified (GMS)?
Both are available in GMS (Google Mobile Services) and Non-GMS builds. Default in Australia is GMS; Non-GMS is useful for locked-down enterprise / OEM deployments that don't want Google services on the device.
Who installs the mounting kit and the FMC650 harness?
Auto-electrician install through our partner network — same referrals we use for standalone tracker installs. Teletrack doesn't invoice for installation and doesn't provide it as a service; the installer invoices you directly. We help coordinate + supply the harness spec.
