Hardware
Dashcams + video telematics.
Two Teltonika dashcam options paired with the FMC650 telematics device — forward-facing, or forward + driver-facing. Incident evidence, driver coaching, and contract requirements — one platform, one subscription line.
Why now
Why AU fleets are adding dashcams
Incident evidence
Forward-facing footage answers the question of who was at fault when an incident happens on public roads or on-site. Event clips upload to the platform automatically; full-resolution footage is retrievable from the SD card on demand.
Head-contractor requirements
Large head contractors increasingly want dashcam coverage on sub-contractor light-commercial fleet operating on their sites. Tender responses go smoother with documented dashcam coverage across the fleet.
Driver coaching
Pairing dashcam footage with the driver scorecard turns harsh-braking / cornering / acceleration events into visible coaching material. Behaviour change is faster when the operator can see what happened.
Hardware options
Two Teltonika dashcam options
Teltonika Dashcam
Single forward-facing camera, mounted at the windscreen. Captures incidents in front of the vehicle: other-driver fault evidence, road hazards, near-misses. Pairs with the FMC650 telematics device for cellular upload. Suitable for fleet vehicles on public roads and on head-contractor sites.

Teltonika DualCam
Forward-facing AND driver-facing in one unit. Captures road view plus driver-cabin view — fatigue events, distracted driving, mobile-phone use, seatbelt status. Useful for driver coaching when paired with the Teletrack driver scorecard.

Upfront hardware and subscription
- Teltonika Dashcam (single forward-facing): $200 + GST per unit, upfront.
- Teltonika DualCam (forward + driver-facing): $250 + GST per unit, upfront.
- Teltonika FMC650 telematics device: $280 + GST — required for both dashcam options; drives the cellular video bandwidth.
Dashcam subscription: $10 / unit / month + GST for the single Dashcam, or $15 / unit / month + GST for the DualCam. This sits on top of the asset's normal platform subscription — the Track tier at $21.90 / asset / month + GST covers the FMC650 telematics side.
Required telematics device
Why the FMC650 is the required telematics device
Both Teltonika dashcam options connect to a telematics device that provides cellular bandwidth and platform integration. The standard FMM650 doesn't have the bandwidth for video — that's why dashcam deployments specifically require the FMC650, the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 variant.
If you're spec-ing a vehicle that needs both heavy-duty CAN telematics AND dashcam, the FMC650 covers both — same form factor and CAN capability as the FMM650, plus video bandwidth. Adding dashcam to an existing FMM650 deployment means an FMC650 swap on that vehicle.
Deployment
Typical dashcam kit per vehicle
1 x Teltonika FMC650 telematics device
Telematics + video bandwidth + immobilisation output. Required regardless of which dashcam SKU you choose.
Teltonika Dashcam or DualCam
Single SKU per vehicle — forward-only Dashcam, or forward + driver-facing DualCam.
Professional install
Auto-electrician install via our partner network. Installation is not a service Teletrack provides — the installer invoices you directly.
Dashcam subscription
$10 / unit / month for the single Dashcam, $15 / unit / month for the DualCam — on top of the asset's normal Track subscription.

Where dashcams pair well
Driver scorecard
Dashcam footage tied to harsh-braking, acceleration and cornering events gives you coaching evidence. Driver behaviour change is faster when you can show the operator what happened.
PROSTART® pre-starts
Pre-start failure events on dashcam-equipped vehicles auto-link the dashcam clip from around the failure window. Investigation evidence ends up in one place.
Portal sharing
Head contractors managing sites can see sub-contractor dashcam coverage status at a glance. Useful for tender response and site-access management.
Common questions
Forward-only or forward + driver-facing?
Site-dependent. Some head-contractor specifications require both; some require only forward-facing. Driver-coaching deployments often start forward-only. Talk to us about the specific requirement on your site.
Why do I need the FMC650 if I already have an FMM650?
The FMM650 doesn't have the bandwidth for video streaming. The FMC650 is the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 variant — same form factor, same CAN capability, plus video. If you're adding dashcam to an existing FMM650 deployment, the vehicle will need an FMC650 swap.
Where is dashcam footage stored?
On the device and on Teletrack servers. Video records to the SD card in the dashcam (64 GB on the single-camera, 128 GB on the DualCam) for full-resolution local retention, and event clips plus on-demand pulls upload via cellular through the FMC650 to teletrack-managed AWS Sydney storage. We don't auto-delete your data. Exportable as evidence for incidents, claims, or audits.
Does the operator know they're being filmed (driver-facing camera)?
Yes. Driver-facing cameras are clearly visible and operators are informed as part of vehicle commissioning. Operator privacy practices vary by employer policy; Teletrack's role is to capture the footage when configured to.
How is installation handled?
Professional auto-electrician install — camera install, FMC650 wiring, commissioning. We refer to an installer from our partner network; the installer invoices you directly. Installation is not a service Teletrack provides.
Can I retrofit dashcams to existing vehicles in my fleet?
Yes. Most retrofit deployments are standard — auto-electrician install via our partner network. Talk to us and we'll refer an installer near you.
