Ruptela

Plug5

OBD plug-in, light vehicles.

The Plug5 is Ruptela's plug-and-play OBD-II tracker for light commercial. Designed for utes, vans, and light commercial vehicles with an accessible OBD-II port. Reads CAN (FMS, J1708, J1939), OBDII parameters, and DTC fault codes. BLE 5.1 for nearby sensors and driver tags. LTE-M with 2G fallback. Internal backup battery for unplug detection. Auto-detection means most vehicle profiles are picked up without manual configuration. Driver fits it in under a minute — no auto-electrician needed.

Use cases

Built for light commercial fleets

Light commercial vehicles

Track a fleet of light commercial vehicles without sending each one to an auto-electrician. Reads engine data through the OBDII port — odometer, RPM, fuel level, fault codes.

Utes and tray-back vehicles

HiLux, Ranger, Triton, BT-50, Amarok — all have an accessible OBDII port under the dash. Plug5 sits there permanently. Auto-detection means most profiles are picked up without manual config.

Vans and last-mile delivery

HiAce, Transit, Sprinter, Master, Trafic. The fast path to fleet visibility for delivery, courier, and trades vans where professional install across the fleet doesn't make commercial sense.

PROSTART®

Pre-start check supported. Immobilisation not.

Pre-start check — supported. Operator completes the pre-start on the Teletrack app before the trip. The check is timestamped against the vehicle and stored in the audit trail. Failed checks auto-create a maintenance work order.

Immobilisation — not supported. Plug5 is an OBD plug-in. It has no relay output and no connection to the starter or ignition circuit, so it can't gate the vehicle until the check passes. For PROSTART® immobilisation on a light commercial vehicle, look at the Ruptela Smart5 hardwired, Teltonika FMM250 hardwired, or TrakaX® Series 2.

For most light commercial use cases — utes, vans, sales fleet, last-mile delivery — pre-start records are the compliance requirement, not active immobilisation. Plug5 handles that fine.

Install

Three ways to get installed

DIY plug-in (the default)

Genuinely plug-and-play. Find the OBDII port under the dash, push it in, wait for the LED handshake, drive. Auto-detect picks up the vehicle profile. Under 60 seconds per vehicle.

DIY concealed (Y-splitter cable)

For fleets that don't want the dongle visible — theft / tamper concern, executive fleet, hire vehicles — we supply a Y-splitter cable harness with every Plug5 sale. The splitter keeps the OBD port accessible for diagnostics and lets you hide the Plug5 itself under the dash and zip-tie it in place. No auto-electrician needed; the install is straightforward DIY.

Customer-arranged auto-electrician

For larger rollouts where you want every vehicle fitted on the same depot visit, arrange your own installer or use our partner network. We provide install diagrams and phone support.
