The Smart5 is Ruptela's compact hardwired tracker for fleet vehicles, delivery trucks, and heavy plant. CAN bus + OBDII + CustomCAN for non-standard vehicles. Driver ID via RFID, iButton, or wireless BLE tag — three authentication methods out of the box. Three digital inputs, one analog/digital input, two digital outputs (one wired for PROSTART® starter-cut), 1-Wire interface, BLE 5.0. Teletrack supplies the rugged IP68-rated housing only — built for engine-bay heat, site dust, and wash-down. Supports PROSTART® cross-vendor immobilisation on light commercial, heavy plant, and delivery trucks alike.

Fleet vehicles
Hardwired tracking for utes, vans, and light commercial fleets where you need more than an OBD plug-in — full driver ID, full CAN reads, PROSTART® immobilisation, and a concealed install that drivers can't unplug.
Heavy plant and machinery
Excavators, telehandlers, dozers, rollers, agricultural and construction equipment. CustomCAN reads non-standard manufacturer buses where Ruptela's standard library doesn't cover the make/model out of the box.
Delivery trucks
Rigid trucks, prime movers, last-mile delivery rigs. Reads FMS-standard CAN through the 1-Wire interface or an EasyCAN adapter. Pair with PROSTART® for compliant pre-starts that immobilise until the check passes.
PROSTART®
Both check and immobilisation supported
Pre-start check — supported. Operator completes the pre-start on the Teletrack app before starting the vehicle. Stamped against the asset, stored in the audit trail.
Immobilisation — supported. Smart5 has two digital outputs; one is configured for PROSTART® starter-relay control. The vehicle physically can't start until the pre-start passes. Same cross-vendor immobilisation that runs on Digital Matter G70-BLE, TrakaX® Series 2, and the Teltonika hardwired range — one PROSTART® workflow, multiple hardware brands.
Driver gating. When Smart5's driver ID is paired with PROSTART®, the immobiliser also gates on operator identity — only operators whose Hammertech or local competency record covers the asset can start it. The pre-start log captures who completed the check, not just that it was completed.

Driver ID — three methods
RFID dash-mounted reader with card or fob; iButton touch-button with steel-cased key (robust against dust and weather); wireless BLE driver tag the operator carries. All three feed the same Teletrack driver-ID workflow.
CAN bus + OBD + CustomCAN
Standard FMS/J1939 for trucks, OBDII for cars and light commercials. CustomCAN lets you define a PID by hand against the manufacturer's spec sheet — covers agricultural equipment, older machinery, proprietary OEM protocols.

Professional install
Default for Smart5. Nationwide auto-electrician partner network. Concealed dash install, wiring to ignition / accessory / power / ground / starter-relay, CAN tap via EasyCAN or harness. 30-60 minutes per light vehicle; longer on heavy plant.
Customer-arranged
For customers with their own trusted installer. We provide install diagrams, the EasyCAN adapter where required, and phone support during the fit.
Self-install — not supported
Smart5 is hardwired with a 12-wire harness — it's not a plug-in. Self-install isn't supported under warranty. If you need a DIY-friendly Ruptela tracker, use the Plug5 or Asset5.
