Teltonika
FMC650
Dashcam-pairing telematics device (Cat 1, higher bandwidth).
The FMC650 is the Cat 1 telematics device for fleet dashcams. Same form factor and full heavy-duty capability as the FMM650 — dual SIM, external antennas, deep CAN / FMS / tachograph, four digital inputs, four analog inputs, four digital outputs, RS232 / RS485 / K-Line, PROSTART® immobilisation — but on LTE Cat 1 instead of Cat M1. The extra cellular bandwidth carries the video stream Teltonika's dashcams need. Required telematics device for mining-spec (BMA, Rio Tinto, FMG), Tier 1 construction, and insurance-led dashcam programmes.

What that actually means
The FMC650 is the unit that connects the dashcam(s) to the platform. The dashcams themselves don't have their own cellular — they connect to the FMC650, which streams the relevant clips and event-triggered footage to Teletrack's AWS Sydney environment via Cat 1.
Why the FMC650 specifically? Because Cat M1 (what the FMM650 uses) is optimised for low-bandwidth IoT data and doesn't have enough headroom for the dashcam video stream. Cat 1 is the lowest LTE category with enough bandwidth for the kind of clip uploads dashcams generate. So when Teltonika built a dashcam offering, they paired it with their Cat 1 variant — the FMC650.
What it pairs with. Two Teltonika dashcam SKUs — the Teltonika Dashcam (single forward-facing) and the Teltonika DualCam (forward + driver-facing in one unit). A typical mining-spec deployment is FMC650 + Teltonika Dashcam (forward-only). A typical insurance-led safety programme is FMC650 + Teltonika DualCam + driver scorecard.
Use cases
Built for fleet video
Mining-site spec compliance
Vehicles operating on BMA, Rio Tinto, FMG, and other major mining sites with documented dashcam requirements. FMC650 + Teltonika Dashcam meets the forward-only spec; FMC650 + DualCam meets dual-spec sites.
Tier 1 construction sub-contractor fleets
Sub-contractor light commercial and haulage operating on Tier 1 head-contractor sites that increasingly require dashcam coverage. FMC650 keeps telematics and dashcam on one head-unit, on one platform.
Insurance-led safety programmes
Fleets working with AU insurers offering premium discounts for dashcam-equipped vehicles. FMC650 + forward dashcam + driver scorecard is the most common bundle — evidence plus behaviour-change drives the discount.
FMC650 vs FMM650
Which one do you need?
How we compare
| Feature | FMC650 (this device) | FMM650 |
|---|---|---|
| Cellular | LTE Cat 1 | Cat M1 + NB-IoT + 2G fallback |
| Bandwidth | Higher (video-capable) | Lower (IoT-optimised) |
| Supports Teltonika dashcam | Yes | No |
| Best for | Dashcam-equipped vehicles (BMA / Rio Tinto / FMG spec, insurance programmes) | Telematics-only deployments, regional coverage, lower data cost |
For mining-site deployments where both dashcam and PROSTART® are required (a common dual requirement), the FMC650 handles both on one head-unit — same install visit. Same wiring pattern as the FMM650 for PROSTART®: one of the four digital outputs is wired through the start circuit, vehicle won't crank until pre-start passes.
