The FMM650 is Teltonika's PROFESSIONAL-class hardwired tracker for heavy vehicles. Cat M1 + NB-IoT + 2G fallback, dual SIM with automatic failover, external GNSS and cellular antennas, 1800 mAh high-capacity backup battery, and the deepest CAN / FMS / tachograph support in the Teltonika range. Four digital inputs, four analog inputs, four digital outputs, 2 x RS232, 1 x RS485, K-Line, two independent CAN buses. Built for prime movers, mining haul trucks, and heavy plant where the FMM250 is outclassed.
Use cases
Built for heavy duty
Heavy haulage and prime movers
B-double, semi, and rigid trucks where you need full FMS / J1939 CAN data — fuel consumption, AdBlue level, engine hours, fault codes — plus tachograph download where compliance applies. External antennas give clean signal through cab metalwork.
Mining and civil heavy plant
Mining haul trucks, graders, dozers, excavators, water trucks. Multiple I/O lets you wire reverse-camera triggers, beacon outputs, PTO sensors, and seatbelt sensors alongside the standard telematics. RS232/485 supports specialist sensors.
Specialty and remote operation
Vehicles in regional or remote areas where dual SIM and Cat M1 + NB-IoT fallback matter. NB-IoT provides an extra coverage layer in marginal-signal zones. Backup battery sends a meaningful tail of position reports after a deliberate disconnect.
FMM650 vs FMC650
The difference is cellular
How we compare
| Feature | FMM650 (this device) | FMC650 |
|---|---|---|
| Cellular | Cat M1 + NB-IoT + 2G fallback | LTE Cat 1 |
| Bandwidth | Lower (IoT-optimised) | Higher (video-capable) |
| Supports Teltonika dashcam | No | Yes |
| Best for | Telematics-only deployments, regional coverage, lower data cost | Dashcam-equipped vehicles (BMA / Rio Tinto / FMG spec, insurance programmes) |
Use the FMM650 when the vehicle needs heavy-duty telematics, CAN, and PROSTART® — but no dashcam. The Cat M1 + NB-IoT combination gives better penetration in regional / remote AU coverage at lower data cost.
Use the FMC650 when the vehicle needs a dashcam. Cat 1 carries the video bandwidth that Cat M1 can't.
PROSTART®
Both check and immobilisation supported
The FMM650 has four digital outputs; one is wired to the start circuit during install. The vehicle will not crank until a valid pre-start has been completed by an authorised operator. Cross-vendor PROSTART® — same workflow as TrakaX® Series 2 or Ruptela Smart5.
This is the heavy-duty PROSTART® platform in the Teltonika range. Use it where the vehicle is a truck, prime mover, or heavy plant and you need the deeper CAN / FMS data alongside pre-start enforcement.
