Why we built TrakaX®
Designed around the platform, not retrofitted to it.
Most telematics platforms run on third-party hardware they don't control. That's fine for most use cases — and it's why Teletrack also carries Digital Matter, Teltonika, and Ruptela across nine devices.
But there's a class of customer where the hardware-platform relationship is the deciding factor: PROSTART-heavy fleets running CANBUS-capable plant where fault code reading, immobilisation, and operator workflows all need to work as one product, not as a third-party device wired into a platform.
TrakaX® Series 2 was designed for that. The pre-start logic, the CANBUS read profiles, the immobilisation timing, the operator ID flow — all designed alongside the device firmware rather than mapped to it after the fact.

PROSTART® cross-vendor immobilisation works on every hardwired tracker in the Teletrack lineup — Digital Matter G70-BLE and Barra GPS, Teltonika FMM250 / FMM650 / FMC650, Ruptela Smart5, and TrakaX® Series 2. That's the whole point of cross-vendor PROSTART®: you don't lose the feature when you mix hardware.
- Operator ID flows were tested first on TrakaX®. RFID, iButton, keypad, and QR code identification were specified against TrakaX® firmware before being ported to the third-party device profiles.
- Fault-code-triggered work orders were built against the TrakaX® CANBUS profile first. When a J1939 fault code on a TrakaX-equipped asset fires, the resulting work order in the Maintenance module is the canonical version — third-party device profiles are mapped to that behaviour.
- Immobilisation logic — relay timing, lockout / release sequence, override handling — was tuned against TrakaX® hardware. Other supported hardware delivers the same outcome; TrakaX® was the reference implementation.

Common questions
How does TrakaX® Series 2 pricing compare to the Digital Matter G70-BLE?
TrakaX® Series 2 is sold on a Price on Application basis — talk to our sales team for current AUD pricing. It's our own hardware, designed around the Teletrack platform, with deeper PROSTART® integration and custom OEM CANBUS library capability. The G70-BLE ($250 + GST) is an excellent Australian-designed tracker from Digital Matter and remains the right choice for many heavy plant deployments. We're upfront about this — pick what fits, not what costs more.
Is TrakaX® actually different, or is it a rebadged Digital Matter device?
It's a different device. TrakaX® Series 2 is Teletrack's own design, not a rebadge of any third-party tracker. Australian-designed, with firmware specified and tested against the Teletrack platform rather than adapted from a vendor's reference firmware.
Is TrakaX® Australian-manufactured?
TrakaX® is Australian-designed, not Australian-manufactured. The design, firmware, and platform integration work happens in Australia. We don't claim local manufacture and we don't want to overclaim — being clear about it is more useful to customers than marketing it as something it isn't.
When is Series 3 coming out?
We're not publishing a launch date or feature list yet. Series 3 is in active development. If you're scoping a deployment 12+ months out and the hardware roadmap is a deciding factor, get in touch and we can talk through what's coming under NDA. Series 2 is a special-order build today (500+ unit MOQ) and is the device to deploy for anything going in over the next 12 months.
Can I mix TrakaX® with Digital Matter, Teltonika, and Ruptela on the same fleet?
Yes — this is one of the structural reasons Teletrack exists. Many of our customers run TrakaX® on PROSTART-critical heavy plant, Digital Matter on other plant or fleet vehicles, Teltonika on light commercial (FMM003 OBD plug-in) or heavy haulage with dashcam (FMC650), and Ruptela on non-powered assets (Asset5). All of them appear on the same platform, same dashboard, same operator app. PROSTART® immobilisation works across every hardwired device in that mix.
What CANBUS profiles does TrakaX® Series 2 support?
Full J1939 (the SAE standard used across most heavy plant and trucks) plus custom OEM library support for OEMs using non-standard PGN sets or proprietary parameters. Talk to us about the specific OEM equipment in your fleet and we'll confirm support before quoting.
Does TrakaX® Series 2 run PROSTART® without the platform?
No. TrakaX® is sold as part of the Teletrack platform subscription. The hardware is configured for and locked to Teletrack — that's true for all our hardware, not just TrakaX®.
What if Series 2 doesn't fit my use case?
We'll tell you. The honest answer is that for many assets — light commercial vehicles, non-powered trailers, dashcam-led deployments — TrakaX® isn't the right pick and we'd recommend a Teltonika, Ruptela, or Digital Matter device instead.
