Shared development rolls back into the product; exclusive paid development stays yours. We tell you which one fits in the discovery call — and we publish the line.
Shared development
Features we build for one customer that would benefit others get rolled into the platform. You get the feature. The next customer gets the feature. Either included in subscription (smaller scope) or quoted as a one-off build with no exclusivity. No ongoing licence fee for the capability.
Exclusive paid development
Features built for you only. You pay for the build. You own the exclusivity. The capability does not ship to other customers. Quoted per project after a paid scoping engagement — fixed-price for larger scope, hourly for smaller.

HirePOS, MCS, Point of Rental Syrinx, Latner — four rental ERP integrations live. All built as shared development; available to any Teletrack hire-industry customer.
Cross-vendor capability layer
The plumbing that lets the platform treat Digital Matter, TrakaX®, Teltonika, Ruptela, TopFlyTech and CalAmp as one lineup — operator app, alerts, scorecards, PROSTART®, maintenance. Most of this was custom development before it became product.
How a custom development project runs

Discovery call (free)
30 minutes. Tell us what you need; we tell you whether Teletrack is the right place to build it. If we say no, we'll say no. If we can do it as part of standard subscription, we'll say that too. Honest scoping starts here.

Paid scoping engagement
A fixed-price scoping document — typically 1–4 weeks — that defines exactly what you'll get, the architecture, the timeline, the price, and which commercial path it sits on (shared or exclusive). The scoping fee is refundable against the build cost if you proceed. No hidden contingencies.

Build
Hourly quotes for small scope; fixed-price for larger scope. You'll have a primary point of contact, regular checkpoints, and access to staging environments for review as the build progresses.

QA + sign-off
We test against the scoping document. You sign off feature-by-feature. We don't ship something different from what was scoped.

Launch + ongoing support
Production deployment. For shared-development capability, it becomes part of the platform — supported indefinitely under your standard subscription. For exclusive builds, support is contracted as part of the build or quoted separately.
What we will build.
- Custom integrations to ERP, CRM, accounting, or job-management systems we don't yet support (e.g. simPRO, AroFlo, ServiceM8, niche industry-specific ERPs).
- Custom reports our team develops using AI to your specification.
- Custom mobile workflows for specific operator roles, machine types, or industry verticals.
- Custom hardware integrations — adding a new tracker or sensor brand into the platform.
- Custom CANBUS profiles for unusual or proprietary equipment that doesn't have standard J1939 support.
- Custom whitelabel portals and mobile apps for OEM partners and large rental groups.
- Custom alerts and automation logic beyond what the standard platform allows.
What we won't build.
We say no when we think a custom build is the wrong answer. A few patterns where we'd push back.
- Building a CRM from scratch — we already have one built in.
- Building a payment gateway, accounting system, or HR platform — use Stripe, Xero, MYOB, your existing HRIS. We integrate to them.
- Building anything outside fleet / hire / construction / OEM domains — we stay in our lane.
- Building features the rest of the industry would have within 12 months as standard — sometimes the right answer is to wait six months and use the standard platform version.
Commercial model
Pricing structure
- Discovery call — free, 30 minutes.
- Scoping engagement — fixed-price, refundable against build if you proceed. Typical scoping fee scales with scope complexity.
- Build — small scope quoted hourly; larger scope fixed-price after scoping.
- Ongoing support — shared-development capabilities supported indefinitely under standard subscription. Exclusive builds support contracted separately.
What's NOT charged for
- Discovery conversations
- Standard platform support that touches custom capability
- Bug fixes on the custom build during the warranty period (defined in the scoping document)
- Future platform upgrades that maintain compatibility with the custom capability
What IS charged for
- Scoping engagement (refundable against build)
- Build hours (T&M) or fixed-price (after scoping)
- Material change requests after scoping is approved
- Ongoing maintenance of exclusive builds beyond warranty
Common questions
How is this different from Fleet Office's dev arm?
Both Teletrack and Fleet Office offer custom development. Two key differences: (1) we openly publish the two commercial paths (shared development at no extra cost vs exclusive paid build) — Fleet Office doesn't draw that line publicly. (2) Our underlying platform is multi-vendor hardware-flexible (Digital Matter, TrakaX®, Teltonika, Ruptela, plus TopFlyTech / CalAmp integration). Fleet Office's custom builds run on Fleet Office's stack. Build it once on Teletrack and it works across whatever hardware you're already running.
How long does a typical custom build take?
Depends entirely on scope. Some custom integrations or reports are 2–4 weeks. Full whitelabel deployments (custom domain + branding + mobile app + custom features) typically 3–6 months. Scoping engagement gives you a fixed timeline before you commit to build.
What if my requirements change during the build?
Material change requests are quoted as additions to the original scope. We don't pretend changes are free — they're additional work. The scoping document defines what's in; anything outside it is a separately quoted change.
Can you build something that gives me a competitive advantage other customers won't have?
Yes — that's the exclusive paid development path. You pay for the build, the capability doesn't ship to other customers, you own the exclusivity. Common for whitelabel partners and large enterprise customers with specific competitive needs.
What if I'm not sure whether my idea is shared or exclusive?
We'll tell you in the discovery call. Generally: if your idea is something other customers in your industry would value, it's shared (cheaper for you, faster for us, broader support). If your idea is genuinely industry-unique or competitively differentiating, it's exclusive (you pay for the moat).
Do you build for non-Teletrack platforms?
No. Custom development is part of the Teletrack platform. We don't take on standalone web / app / software builds outside our domain.
Can I see examples of what other customers have built?
Most of our custom development is delivered as either shared platform features (now part of standard Teletrack — see Solutions) or whitelabel deployments (see Whitelabel). Exclusive builds are usually confidential; we'll reference them generally but not name them publicly.
What about ongoing maintenance of a custom build?
For shared development, future platform updates maintain the capability — no extra cost. For exclusive builds, ongoing maintenance is either contracted as part of the build (often the case for whitelabel deployments) or quoted separately.
Do you do small one-off builds, or only larger projects?
Both. Small builds (a single custom report, a single integration alert, a specific dashboard tile) typically run on hourly quotes and can be quoted from a half-hour scoping call. Larger projects (full ERP integration, whitelabel deployment, custom mobile workflow) need a paid scoping engagement first.
