FMC650 telematics device + Teltonika Dashcam or DualCam. Hardware is sold separately as an upfront one-off cost. Professional installation is required for the FMC650 + dashcam kit; installation is NOT included and is NOT a service Teletrack provides — we can refer an auto-electrician from our install network, but the installer invoices you directly. Dashcam subscription is $10 / unit / month for the single forward-facing unit or $15 / unit / month for the DualCam, on top of the asset's platform subscription (Track + PROSTART® at $31.90 / asset / month is the typical pairing where pre-start immobilisation is also required).

Why AU fleets are adding dashcams
Three converging drivers — mining-site compliance, Tier 1 head contractor requirements, and insurance-led programmes.
Mining-site compliance. Major mining operators have rolled out dashcam requirements for vehicles operating on their sites. BMA (BHP Mitsubishi Alliance), Rio Tinto, and FMG have site-access specs that include forward-facing and (in some cases) driver-facing video. Site-access without a compliant kit is increasingly not negotiable.
Tier 1 head contractor requirements. Large head contractors managing Tier 1 sites are asking sub-contractors for dashcam coverage on light commercial fleet operating on their sites. Tender response improves with documented dashcam compliance.

Two Teltonika dashcam options
Forward-facing dashcam (64 GB SD)
Road-view camera mounted at the windscreen. Captures incidents in front of the vehicle — other-driver fault evidence, road hazards, near-misses, site incursions. Video is stored locally on the dashcam's 64 GB SD card and is remotely retrievable on demand via the FMC650 telematics device; image snapshots are periodically sent up to the Teletrack platform. The most common starting point for insurance-led deployments.
Driver-facing dashcam (DualCam, 128 GB SD)
Forward + driver-facing in one unit. Captures driver behaviour — fatigue events, distracted driving, mobile phone use, seatbelt status. The DualCam ships with a 128 GB SD card to accommodate the second feed. Same local-storage / on-demand retrieval model as the single-camera unit. Useful for driver coaching when paired with the Teletrack scorecard. Required by some AU mining-site specifications in addition to forward-facing.
Why the Teltonika FMC650 is required
Both Teltonika dashcam options connect to the FMC650 telematics device. The FMC650 talks to the dashcam, pulls footage off the SD card when you request it, and transmits up to the Teletrack platform. The FMM650 is Cat M / NB-IoT — fine for telematics but insufficient for the on-demand video pull. The FMC650 is the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 variant — same form factor, same CAN / J1939 capability, plus the bandwidth dashcam retrieval needs. If you're already running FMM650s and want to add dashcams, the vehicle needs an FMC650 swap.

Dashcam clips auto-linked to scorecard events
This is the operational payoff most fleets care about. Harsh-braking, harsh-acceleration, and harsh-cornering events on the driver scorecard auto-link the dashcam clip from that moment.
Coaching becomes specific instead of abstract: the supervisor opens the operator's bottom-five events for the week, each event has the clip attached, and the conversation is grounded in fact — 'here's exactly what happened' rather than 'your score is down'. Behaviour change is measurable on next week's scorecard.
Dashcam alone is evidence. Scorecard alone is data. Dashcam + scorecard together is a coaching programme.

Forward-only or forward + driver-facing?
Site-dependent. Some mining specifications require both; some require only forward-facing. Insurance-led deployments often start forward-only and add driver-facing as the programme matures. Talk to us about the specific requirement on your site.
Why do I need the FMC650 if I already have an FMM650?
The FMM650 doesn't have the bandwidth for the on-demand video pull — it's Cat M / NB-IoT, fine for telematics but insufficient for retrieving dashcam footage. The FMC650 is the higher-bandwidth Cat 1 variant of the same telematics device — same form factor, same CAN / J1939 capability, plus the bandwidth dashcam retrieval needs. If you're adding dashcam to an existing FMM650 deployment, the vehicle needs an FMC650 swap.
Where is dashcam footage stored?
Video is stored locally on the dashcam's SD card (64 GB on the single-camera unit, 128 GB on the DualCam). The footage is remotely retrievable on demand — when you need a clip for an incident, claim, or audit, the platform pulls it from the SD card through the FMC650 telematics device. In parallel, image snapshots are periodically sent up to the Teletrack platform so you can scan for events without retrieving the full video. Retrieved clips and snapshots sit on AWS Sydney; we don't auto delete your data.
Does the operator know they're being filmed (driver-facing camera)?
Yes — driver-facing cameras are clearly visible and operators must be informed as part of vehicle commissioning. Operator privacy practices vary by employer and by jurisdiction; Teletrack's role is to capture the footage when configured. Your HR / legal team should sign off on the employee communications.
How long does install take?
Typically 1–2 hours per vehicle for a professional auto-electrician — camera install, FMC650 wiring, commissioning. Arranged through our partner network. Bulk-install programmes for larger fleets are scheduled at predictable per-site rates.
Can I retrofit dashcams to existing vehicles in my fleet?
Yes. Most retrofit deployments are straightforward — auto-electrician install via our partner network, vehicle in for a couple of hours, back on the road the same day.
