Light commercial vehicle
GPS tracking for light vehicles — utes, vans, light trucks.
OBD plug-in on FMM003 (DIY, minutes per vehicle) or hardwired on FMM250 / Smart5 when you need driver ID, immobilisation, or dashcam. Driver scorecard and fuel monitoring.
Recommended hardware
Teltonika FMM003 OBD plug-in (DIY) or Teltonika FMM250 hardwired for fleet scale. Ruptela Plug5 / Smart5 alternatives. Teltonika FMC650 with dashcam for compliance-mandated fleets (BMA, Rio Tinto, FMG).
Why light vehicles
What Teletrack does on a light vehicle
Live tracking & trip history
Position updates while ignition is on. Full trip history with start/end addresses, kilometres, idling, harsh events. Geofence sites and no-go zones.
Driver scorecard
Per-driver scoring on speeding, harsh braking, acceleration, cornering, idling. Rules-based, exportable. Useful for coaching and insurance discounting.
Fuel monitoring
Fuel consumption per vehicle, driver, trip via OBD or CANBUS. Fuel theft detection flags large unexplained drops.
Dashcam-ready
Teltonika FMC650 telematics device pairs with forward or dual-facing dashcam. Common on Tier 1 site work and insurance-led safety programs.
Operator ID & immobilisation
Hardwired devices (FMM250, Smart5) support operator ID via iButton, RFID, keypad, QR. PROSTART® immobilisation gates the start.
Hardware choice
OBD plug-in vs hardwired
Plug-in is right when you want a fast DIY rollout and don't need immobilisation, in-cab driver ID, or deeper CANBUS data. Hardwired is right when you need any of those, or when you want the device tamper-resistant. Many fleets mix — plug-ins on bulk service vehicles, hardwired on pool vehicles or high-risk roles.
Teltonika FMM003
OBD plug-in, DIY, under a minute per vehicle. GPS, trip data, driver scorecard, fuel monitoring (OBD), BLE.

Hardwired, 9–32V. CANBUS, relay for immobilisation, BLE for operator ID. Pick for immobilisation or deeper CAN data.

Install options per device
OBD plug-in (FMM003 or Plug5): DIY, under a minute. Plug into OBD-II port, confirm the device appears on platform, done. Most fleets fit 30+ vehicles in one afternoon.
Hardwired (FMM250 or Smart5): 30–60 minutes with an auto-electrician. Switched 12V power, ground, CANBUS tap, and relay loop into start circuit for PROSTART®. We can arrange install through partners or you use your own auto-electrician with our diagrams.
Dashcam-equipped (FMC650): 60–90 minutes. FMC650 telematics device installs like FMM250; dashcam mounts to windscreen. Teltonika Dashcam (forward-only) or DualCam (forward + driver-facing) standard.
Common questions
How long does install take?
OBD plug-in — under a minute, DIY. Hardwired — 30–60 minutes with an auto-electrician. Dashcam-equipped — 60–90 minutes.
OBD vs hardwired — which should I pick?
Plug-in for fast DIY rollouts without immobilisation needs. Hardwired when you need immobilisation, driver ID, or deeper CANBUS. Many fleets mix both.
Can I get an insurance discount?
Many AU insurers offer telematics-linked discounts with dashcam evidence and driver scorecard. We don't have a panel arrangement, but the data we produce is what insurers ask for.
Is this consumer car tracking?
No — Teletrack is a B2B fleet platform. We don't sell to individuals tracking a single car. If you're a business running light commercial vehicles, you're in the right place.
